Another update from Lori:
“Today Greg devoured a plate of ziti and was able to drink out of a glass for the first time in over 2 weeks. He had 2 more tubes removed and was tormenting his nurse and asking her if she was really Helen Hunt. He slept really well last night.
“They are hoping to move him out of ICU in the next couple of days! My mom is staying till the 10th. I'll arrive the 12th. Once he is out of ICU he can have visitors.”

THIS IS GREAT NEWS, THANKS!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGuess who's back? What a great surprise to discover all these postings, cards, letters, etc. from my family/friends. Thanks so much...really boosted my spirits to find all your messages once I got out of the ICU
ReplyDelete. I plan to respond individually as soon as I can As you can imagine, it's ben a rollercoaster few weeks, much of it spent in a drug-induced coma---trying to decipher what really happened and what didn't has been a delightful challenge. Despite being revived/resuscitated 11 times, the surgeons tell me the only residual damage is to my heart (not the brain, which is apparently damaged from years of demented thought and irreparable!). Looks like I'll be moving from Manhattan to Westchester, just north of NYC, likely by the end of the month, to await my heart transplant donor (pray for an A Positive!). Then after that, they say the recuperation is very quick...release within a week, which amazes me.
Thank you to ALL of you for your concern, especially Beth and Jeff (who set up this blog), Patrick Q, my brother and sister, Lori and Jeff, and all of you who helped in getting this this going. It really means a lot to me that you all care, and I'll try to keep you abreast of further developments.
Love,
Greg
